(1) Deacons. (8-15-04) The church shall have a maximum of 60 deacons, each to serve three years. A smaller number may be chosen if desired. Assignment of visitation, and other responsibilities, can be done on the basis of the number of deacons elected. Retiring deacons shall not be eligible for re-election until the period of one year has elapsed.
Active deacons must attend Deacon business meetings unless providentially hindered. Absence from three successive Deacon meetings, without being excused by one of the Deacon Officers, automatically places the deacon on the inactive list. Another deacon will be elected by the church to replace the inactive deacon. Interim vacancies in the active deacon body shall be filled for the remainder of the vacated term as they occur from those ordained deacons not currently serving actively in the same manner that active deacons are selected.
